This is how we got started.
Mag and I were drinking vino/wine in Italy during our travels and we were discussing the good life we've had in DoDDs. DoDDs presents us with opportunities for lots of travel, good friends, good money, good food and good wine. We decided we never wanted these good times to stop even after we're retired so we started brain storming on what we could do about this dilemma. Up sprang the idea for GoGoTeachers.com. We hope you will enjoy this tool for your travels and we sincerely hope we will enjoy it too. I think you all will be pleasantly surprised about how easy this is going to be. Everyone knows someone who knows someone who knows you. There will always be easy conversation and hopefully trust among us. It's a special breed of person to be a DoDDs/DoDEA teacher.
We'd like you to know a little about us so here's what Vera has to say about Mag:
Mag McGinley has been teaching for DoDDs in Heidelberg, Germany for many years. I'm guessing she's taught someone's grandmother by now. I met Mag in 1992 when our family moved from Stuttgart to Heidelberg. Mag was the Physical Education teacher at Heidelberg Middle School and I wanted her job. I tried everything short of murder to get it and failed. Mag not only is an excellent PE Teacher, coach, she's been the social committee chairperson, Union Representative (for over 20 yrs), and the Heidelberg Ski Club President two times. Mag also organizes trips for teachers several times a year. Mag is a mover and a doer. She loves to hike and bike. When you go on a hike with Mag be prepared. She scouts out the highest peak, points at the Cross on top and says, "Let's go". Even if there is no trail that is no problem for Mag or you.
Now it's Mag's turn to tell you about Vera:
Vera Morgan has always been the "IDEA" woman when it comes to teaching and her social life. While at Heidelberg Middle School, she taught a Business Enterprise course that had no curriculum other than her great ideas for making money for the kids. If it could be done, her classes would make it happen. Vera has taught every CORE and Elective class that DODDs has thrown at her and has done it very well. Vera continues to put the educational emphasis in Physical Education as she is an excellent teacher, and coach who cares about her kids. In her new role as Labor Union Representative in her school, she proves that she too cares about the people she works with.
Here is a little about our behind-the-scenes-man, Ryan:
Ryan Burke is the computer guru of the GoGoTeachers.com. Once he heard the original concept of the site he brainstormed with Vera and took the business idea to a whole new level. After convincing Mag and Vera that this concept could grow beyond their original dream, they decided to make him an official part of the team. Ryan is Vera's son-in-law. His 127.0.0.1 is in Austin, Texas, with his beautiful wife and son. He graduated from Texas State University in 2004 and has been writing code ever since! Bow before him, for he is root.
